Councilor Contemplations – May 2025

by Sara Bollinger – Manlius Deputy Supervisor

Many thanks to all the employees and volunteers who work for YOU, the residents of Manlius, at the Town. We appreciate their dedication.

Earth Fest was held on a cold and rainy Sunday. We appreciate all the vendors who staffed their tables and the hardy people who came by during the afternoon.

The Town was honored to march in the Villages of Fayetteville, Minoa and Manlius Memorial Day parades. We were also invited to participate in the Minoa Field Day parade by the Minoa Fire Department.

The Town Board considered some modifications to the Planned Unit Development law to accommodate the Highbridge Senior Apartment project. Comments from neighbors addressed noise, parking, traffic and a ‘sidewalk to nowhere’. This section of sidewalk is logistically challenging. The Town Board appreciates the cooperation of all parties to facilitate this segment, which will make it easier to build a connection to the sidewalk in the Village of Fayetteville.

The Town is investing in some software to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and to communicate more intuitively with residents and other stakeholders.

The Town of Manlius is now a NYS Certified Pro-Housing Community.

The Town of Manlius Town Hall needs significant repairs and improvements. The Town is evaluating the pros and cons of repair and stay versus building a new accessible, inclusive and sustainable Town Hall. Both choices are expensive. The Town commissioned a study of the current facility, which is on our website.
