Councilor Contemplations – June 2024

Purchase of Land

There was a large turnout for a Public Hearing 6/26 about purchasing 7.779 acres of land on Burdick Street and accepting a donation of 61.86 acres along Limestone Creek. A wide variety of comments were presented about the need for a new building, environmental issues with the proposed site, the terms of the purchase contract and the impact of such an expensive project on property taxes. Residents stayed for a long time, listening politely to the comments from their neighbors and adding additional
information when needed.

The Board accepted bids to begin construction of a cold storage barn for the Highway Department this summer thanks to Senator Mannion.
